Obama-Biden Dine in Hamilton, Indiana

Obama and (
Photo by Cathie Rowand of The Journal Gazette)

Barack Obama and Joe Biden made a stop for dinner this evening at the Pier 32 restaurant on Indiana 1 on Hamilton Lake. According to the Journal Gazette, Obama bounded off of his campaign bus at 5:45 p.m., shouting to his running mate, "Biden! Let's get something to eat!" His call was met with applause from boaters in bikinis and sunglasses gathered in the parking lot, on the docks, in the landscaping and along the road - robert

OK - now we know it is Joe Biden and that is AWESOME ! ! !

Barack Obama has introduced veteran Senator Joe Biden as his running mate at a rally in Springfield, Illinois.

Sen. Obama hailed Biden as a "man with a distinguished record and a fundamental decency".

Barack Obama confirmed his choice of running mate overnight on his website and with a text message after the news began to leak to the media. (yea, I got mine Saturday morning.)

Some in the Democratic campaign may be hoping Sen. Biden's presence will reassure voters who are concerned about Sen. Obama's relative inexperience, particularly in the international arena. As for me, I had no problem with Obama's intellect and ability to evaluate and learn from the best., Obama outlined Biden's accomplishments in the Senate, his blue collar roots and - above all - his experience on foreign policy. "He's an expert on foreign policy whose heart and values are rooted firmly in the middle class," Obama said.

He also emphasised Biden's drive for change, despite his 30 years spent in the Capitol. "For decades, he has brought change to Washington, but Washington hasn't changed him," Obama said. He recounted the personal tragedy that struck Mr Biden more than 30 years ago, within days of his election to the Senate, when his first wife and their daughter were killed in a car accident.

After being introduced, a shirt-sleeved Sen. Biden ran on to the stage and was embraced by Sen. Obama to cheers from the crowd. In his speech, Biden referred to his own short-lived bid for the White House against Obama for the 2008 nomination, before dropping out in January:

"You learn about a man when you debate with him, you see how he thinks. Barack Obama has the vision and courage to make this a better place. He is a clear-eyed pragmatist who will get the job done."

Sen. Biden, a 65-year-old veteran lawmaker, is highly respected on foreign policy and is a six-term senator who serves on the powerful Foreign Affairs Select Committee. He brings a breadth of knowledge and experience unmatched amongst the crop of finalists Obama was considering. He has represented the state of Delaware in the US Senate since 1972 and appeals to working-class Americans and was born in Pennsylvania, a key swing state in this election.

Hillary Clinton issued a statement calling Sen. Biden "an exceptionally strong, experienced leader and devoted public servant".

John McCain has reportedly not yet settled on a running mate - and that might just mean that no one wants to run with him..

largly from the BBC - but Roger has added comments.

The similarities between John Edwards' infidelity and John McCain's make us wonder. After denouncing John Edwards as unworthy of public office for having cheated on his ill wife, none of the conservatives have come up with a decent explanation of why McCain's divorce was any less despicable.

The United Auto Workers union has given its expected endorsement to Democrat Barack Obama, while criticizing Republican John McCain as an heir to President Bush's policies.

UAW President Ron Gettelfinger says McCain "is content to rely on the failed policies of President Bush," which Gettelfinger says cost millions of U.S. manufacturing jobs.

Michigan Democrats picked Gettelfinger in June as an Obama delegate to the party's national convention, which begins next Monday in Denver. Gettelfinger issued a statement Monday saying Obama "is taking action to support American workers and American companies." Gettelfinger cites Obama's promise of $4 billion in low-cost financing for automakers to retool to make more fuel-efficient vehicles.

Unfit for Publication

One of the most vile smear peddlers of the 2004 election has found a new target.

Jerome Corsi just published a new book full of rehashed distortions and the same old lies about Barack Obama, and the right-wing noise machine is in full gear promoting it.

In 2004, Corsi helped launch the Swift Boat smear campaign with a book of distortions and lies he wrote about John Kerry.

It’s up to you to spread the truth, so here it is. Obama posted some of the facts about Corsi and his desperate fabrications in this 40 page PDF book. A little research disproves even Corsi's most basic claims.

Download the book in PDF - it is well worth the read . . and you can help fight the smears.

"Punch" - What John McCain Doesn't want You to Know in Ohio

The Obama campaign promised late last week that they would keep attacking John McCain and his campaign manager for their ties to a company merger that could lead to thousands of job losses in Ohio. And today they followed through on that threat.

Their new ad, titled "Punch," focuses on the testimonies of Ohio DHL workers who could lose their jobs should the company send their shipping practice to UPS:

http://link.brightcove.com/services/link/bcpid1185304443/bctid1727930765

The following McCain ad is totally wrong - but many people will believe it. The taxes Barack Obama is talking about are not for the lower and middle classes - they are for the super wealthy, The same people who have supported President Bush. The ad is meant to scare people who have not learned how to read Bush and McCain propaganda.

Many people watching TV advertisements are likely to believe anything. Let us help clear their minds because it is NOT true.

August 06, 2008 Barack Obama in Elkhart, IN Town Hall Meeting
At the town hall meeting in Elkhart, IN, one man from the audience- a mortgage broker- asked Senator Barack Obama about his plan for helping the region solve unemployment issues and housing problems.

Barack likes to tell a story about the two of us standing backstage before his speech at the 2004 Democratic Convention.

The way he tells it, he was too busy in the days before the convention to feel any pressure - - but about an hour before the speech, I could tell he was getting a little nervous.

To break the tension, right before he went out on stage I leaned in close and said, "Just don't screw it up, buddy."

We laughed. And then Barack brought the house down.

This year, the house is going to be a lot bigger. More than 75,000 people will be in Denver to be part of this important moment.

Ecomomic Discussion in Fort Wayne by the Obama Campaign - Tuesday, July 29

Economic Group
Nancy Guyott, Kathy Davis, Gene Sperling, Graham Richard, Karen Goldner

Tuesday, July 29 - The commons Area of North Side High School was the location where five people representing the presidential campaign of Senator Barack Obama spoke on his economic policies. The first speaker was Kathy Davis, Indiana Lieutenant Governor under Joe Kernan. She spoke of the importance to Indiana of electing Barack Obama and introduced Gene Sperling, a top Obama economic advisor, who was called by President Clinton "the MVP" of his economic team.

Gene B. Sperling is a Senior Fellow at American Progress. He served in the Clinton administration as the President's National Economic Adviser and Director of the National Economic Council. He was the third person to hold the role of chief economic adviser in the White House. More about Mr. Sperling

Sperling was a leading economist with with the Clinton administration during one of the greatest periods of economic growth. He and the others advising Senator Obama have come up with even more and better ways to build our economy under the new set of economic problems that are facing our country.

Barack Obama has laid out a detailed plan that offers both short-term relief and long-term solutions to help working families, including a $50 billion stimulus, of which $1 billion would come to Indiana, to stimulate the economy and help families dealing with rising gas and energy prices. Under his plan, every working family would also receive a $1,000 Making Work pay tax cut ($500 for individuals), and additional tax cuts to help families afford health care, mortgages, college and save for retirement.

The other panelists, including former Fort Wayne Mayor Graham Richard, Councilwoman Karen Goldner and former state Department of Labor Commissioner Nancy Guyott told why they though Barack Obama had the best plans for the interests of Indiana citizens. They also answered questions from the audience with responses that demonstrated that Obama will do his best to help all Hoosiers and all Americans.

This was the second such meeting I have attended and they both were significant in demonstrating that Barack Obama listens, gets good advice, is well grounded in his understanding and has a positive plan of action to turn the economy around to face our future needs.

Obama's Campaign for Change has developed a strategy -- a very aggressive strategy -- that will only work if our millions of supporters continue to contribute their time and their money. That strategy will work, and it has to. The stakes are too high and the need for change too great. But victory is only possible with your continued help and it can't be done without you.

We have seen and met Barack Obama in person and know that he has the
capacity to make the most positive difference in this country and for all Americans.

It is most unusual, that at any time in any history, a special individual can step
forward who is capable of making the changes that both we and our country need.

Barack Obama is that person.

Disclaimer: We understand that our country is being led by a disfunctional president and our reputation all around the world is in the lowest level ever because of this. The people of other countries, (as we have seen on our travels) are begging us to change. Barack Obama is that change.

Troops Cheer Obama during Iraq visit

During his visit to Iraq, our boys and girls in uniform greeted Barack Obama with a standing ovation:

Obama greeted by our troops in Iraq

A visitor to Iraq might simply ask, "Send the soldier you most trust to come talk to me."
Check how Bush visited the troops. Have you checked the military record of Pres. Bush?

Great New Stuff: Barack is the "new black" By Average White Male Obamican

I thought long and hard about writing this post. I knew that the unthinking amongst us -- both white and black -- would call me all kinds of nasty names: racist, bigot, Republican. I decided ultimately I don't care because the era of race baiting ends on January 20, 2009.

A strong, intelligent, inspirational African-American man will take the oath of office and ascend to the rank of "Leader of the Free World."

I'm voting for Obama, not because of his skin color and certainly not because I agree with most of his positions. No, I'm voting for him because I believe he's an inspirational figure who transcends politics like a Kennedy, or yes, a Reagan. A man who through sheer intelligence and leadership will propel this country to a better day. - - READ IT ALL

The Doorway behind the car is the place to be.

The Obama Campaign is officially back in Fort Wayne. Come join the Fort Wayne field staff as they launch the campaign towards the general election. This is a great opportunity to see the new offices, meet other supporters and volunteers. There will be speeches from special surrogates and afterwards they will help community members get registered to vote.

Work CrewIn the Hoosier State we have built a diverse grassroots movement. Democrats, Independents, and even Republicans have worked side-by-side to change our politics from the bottom up. Together, you've shown a commitment to turning Indiana "blue" for the first time in 44 years.

Now, it's time to build on that momentum as we prepare for November and bring even more people into our political process. And we need you to join us.

This weekend, Hoosiers will be joining us for Campaign for Change Office Opening Kickoff celebrations across the state. At the celebrations, you'll get to meet fellow supporters, talk with campaign staff, and learn how to get involved in your community right away.

We have a great opportunity to succeed in Indiana, so we're rapidly gearing up for the months ahead, but we must do this together. Look to the left to get involved and go here to see what else you can do.

We have been looking on You Tube for information about Senator McCain. Go there yourself and see just how much stuff there is that shows why we do NOT want him as our next president. Go there
