Keeping Balance in New Haven's Government
Why I am running for the New Haven City Council
I am running for the office of New Haven City Council, at large. I will dedicate my service to the citizens of New Haven and be committed to helping our community grow stronger in every way. I will fight for this community and each citizen to sustain and create good jobs and enhance the neighborhoods. I will vigorously support all the city employees from the utility department to our police officers and fire fighters in their efforts to keep our city safe and get the most our of every tax payer dollar. I know there are a lot of people struggling to pay their bills and have been dealing with a lot of hardships. We need to come together as a community and help these people any way we can. I will fight so we don’t lose control of our township government. We must have the first say in all aspects of governing our district from the fortunate to less fortunate. I will fight to let the citizens of New Haven control our community with less government. I would appreciate your vote and look forward to serving the citizens of New Haven and their community.
My Background and Family
I graduated in 1976 from New Haven High School. I have been married for twenty-eight years to my wife, Jill, also a New Haven graduate. We have two children, Alicia and Kyle, and we have two grandchildren, Mason and Alexa. We are members of Grace Gathering Church, formerly know as Grace Fellowship.
My Work And Activities
I worked in the utility department for the city of New Haven for fifteen years. I currently work for my brother, Dennis, owner of Talon Restoration and Cleaning in New Haven. As operating manager with insurance companies and home owners, dealing with fire, water, and mold losses, we also have a complete flooring showroom open to the public. I coached middle school basketball for both girls and boys at New Haven for twelve years. I also coached AAU Basketball for seven years, coached little league baseball for twelve years and travel baseball for five years. I have donated my time working with Habitat for Humanity and enjoy working with and helping those less fortunate.

Endorsed by the Journal-Gazette: "Metzger, a former city employee, both offer experiences that would be helpful as the city builds on improvements to its downtown area."
"Metzger, 49, worked for City Utilities for 15 years and is now employed by Talon Restoration. He is sensitive to the need for New Haven to attract good-paying jobs and also wants to see plans for a new community center to serve older residents." (endorsed on October, 14)
