Community Forum on Race and Gender in the Justice System
Monday, August 23 from 6:30 until 8:30 at the Fort Wayne Urban League
There will be a Community Forum on Race and Gender in the Justice System on Monday, August 23 from 6:30 until 8:30 at the Fort Wayne Urban League at 2135 South Hanna St.
Jonathan Ray, President/CEO of Fort Wayne Urban League and Judge Thomas J. Felts of the Allen Circuit Court are inviting interested people to share information and participate. The Forum is sponsored by the Indiana Supreme Court Commission on Race and Gender Fairness and is one of a series of forums being held across the state to give the Commission the opportunity to listen to concerns from citizens on race and gender fairness issues in Indiana’s justice system. The forums allow the Commission to gather data on race and gender fairness issues that they will then analyze and use to make recommendations to the Indiana Supreme Court on ways to enhance fairness throughout Indiana.
Facilitators will lead small group discussions and summarize those discussions for the entire audience. The format is designed to give every person attending an opportunity to express his or her view.
If you have any questions contact either Jonathan Ray at the Fort Wayne Urban League office (745-3100) or Judge Felts (449-7652. - or you can talk to Roger or Karen Goldner.

Indiana Democratic Convention - Saturday, June 26 in Indianapolis
Secretary of State. . Vop Osili (pronounced “Oh-sulee")”) . . . . www.votevop.com . . . . . . .
Has great ideas that go beyond expectations and traditions with a plan to expand the options available for helping businesses in Indiana. Vop brings intelligence, energy and compassion. Great assets, Dynamic Promise and Exceptional Potential !
State Treasurer . . Pete Buttigieg (pronounced Buddha Judge) ..www.peteforindiana.com
Pete is absolutely on target when it comes to dealing with Indiana's money. Roger and Rachel have heard him speak at least twice and he says all the right and not traditional things that tells us that he will put our state money in the banks that will bring jobs to Indiana. Once in a while there comes upon the scene a young man with different and forward looking ideas that have the possibility of making a major difference for all Hoosiers. Pete is one of them - the best to come around in a long, long time.
State Auditor . . . . Sam Locke . . . . www.lockeforauditor.com
Meet him Thursday afternoon after talking to him on the phone and he was very impressive. He is the guy who will be watching over the money of Indiana and I do not think we could do better. I like his sign - Be a Locke Star. Rock on, Sam.
We are just back from the Indiana Democratic Convention. Hoosiers will have GREAT Democratic choices this November. If Indiana government gets worse or the people we send to Washington fail, it will be because the voters did not vote for Democrats. They really do care, are informed and make choices for the common good - not just for special interests. Unless, of course, you consider yourself a special interest. In that case, please know that they care about the people. . .
The hardest choice was for Secretary of State - between Vop Osili and Tom McKenna. Dynamic Promise and Exceptional Potential vs. Outstanding Experience and Proven Dedication. It was a hard choice because both candidates were Top Choices. Vop Osili won and will be the candidate for Secretary of State.
Pete Buttigieg (pronounced, Buddha Judge), is the outstanding candidate for Treasurer - and you have no idea of just how great this guy is. He is at the top of so many lists. If he does not become our Treasurer, the state will suffer.
Sam Locke is totally honest and a very capable candidate for Auditor. He has worked for non-profits for many years, understands being careful with money and being open with what goes on. If people know where the money goes, they will know how well Indiana is taking care of their taxes.
I have met and talked with all of these candidates two or three times and am absolutely convinced that they are each, in their own special (and extremely talented ways) exceptional people. This will be a special opportunity to elect the very best talent. Really, it will be. This can be a great year for Hoosiers to put smart people who do care about us.

Jack Morris For Indiana State Senate
The U.S. House of Representatives voted to repeal "Don't Ask, Don't Tell."
This historic vote follows the successful vote in the Senate Armed Services Committee. The issue will now move to the full Senate floor sometime this summer. After years of fighting to end this law, these two votes are a thrilling step forward, not just for lesbian and gay service members – but for each and every American who believes in equality.
Preparing to end the military of Don't Ask, Don't Tell will allow thousands of good Americans the opportunity to serve our country and will help reduce misunderstanding of many of our GLBT citizens. It will take time for greater appreciation to grow, but it is slowly happening and that makes our country stronger and allows people to work together more effectively. This has helped.
Excellent Candidates Are Running At The State Democratic Convention
Secretary of State (two great candidates - one will be chosen at the Convention - Roger has met and respects both of them - this will be a difficult vote at the convention)

. . . . . . Tom McKenna . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . www.mckennaforsecretary.com . . . .
Tom has great government and private sector working experience. He has good ideas and has qualifications to be an excellent secretary of state. Tom will keep elections fair by respecting voters rights.

The Man Republicans Trusted As The Holder of Family Values
Turns Out To Be A Hypocrite!

Mark Souder has officially resigned because he has "sinned against God, my wife and my family by having a "mutual relationship" with a part-time member of my staff."

Why is it that people are so sorry only after others find out about what they have done?
I do feel very sorry for all the others he condemned and put at risk because of his sexual bigotry and his warped and limited awareness of others. I do not feel sorry for Mark Souder.
Hypocrite sums it up.
