She could speak at our local park or in a church or just in the middle of downtown on the PA system set up for the car show. A great media attraction.

Hillary Clinton Wins Indiana By 2%

At 9:30 Wednesday morning - Indiana with 5215 of 5230 precincts counted - Clinton 50.9% vs. Obama 49.1%

In Allen County, with 294 of 294 precincts reporting in Allen County, Barack Obama had 56% of the vote as compared to 44% for Hillary Clinton.

Talking to poll workers, there was an extremely high amount of crossover votes from Republicans voting for Democrats. We do not know what effect that had on the percentages because different people did it for different reasons, but we suspect some was meant to hurt Democrats and some was meant to support a candidate they liked..

Jill Long Thompson Narrowly Wins
The Democratic Vote For Governor

In the end, Long Thompson won by a fraction of one-percent of the vote over Indianapolis architect Jim Schellinger.

======

In 2004, there were a total of 8,657 votes cast in the Democratic primary in Allen County. The GOP posted 21,649 votes.

This year, the GOP posted 20,122 (1,527 less than in 2004). However, the Democratic vote increased by 53,877 to a whopping 62,534.

Hillary Clinton Was In Fort Wayne on Saturday, May 26
For a "Solutions for the American Economy" Event
Saturday, April 26, 2008 at 8:00 AM - 11:00 AM

ClintonHillary Clinton spoke to a Fort Wayne audience who stood in the cold at the Lincoln Pavilion in Headwaters Park.

She spoke her plan to help in the growing importance of green color jobs with the development of environmental and energy conservation to to reduce our dependence on traditional fuels. She said she was tired of sustaining oil companies and that we need to get the two oil men to leave the white house.

Clinton would create jobs by helping mayors get resources they need. She said that during World War 2 people bought bonds to help fight the war. We can do that again, with government guaranteed bonds, to build America up. Clinton would invest in science and research to find cures, understanding, prevent negative things to give us a better, healthier and safer country.

We must be sure that cures are available to everyone who needs them and she is tired of health insurance companies deciding who lives or dies. She talked about insurance companies that do not help and said that she and her staff have had to call insurance companies to get help for people who had been denied help.

HillaryClinton believes we need universal health care because it is a smart economic thing to do. We must open up the Federal plans for everyone who wants them. Insurance needs to guarantee health care for everyone. Last year the health insurance companies spent 50 billion dollars figuring how to NOT cover people while doing business with a 30 percent overhead cost coming out of each dollar spent. The American Nurses Association has endorsed Hillary. Clinton would limit the amount of money that you have to pay for insurance based on your income. She said that emergency room care for uninsured is passed on to insurance companies and the rest of us at the rate of 900 dollars a year per person.

Making college affordable is an important goal. She worked her way thru college and went to law school by working and borrowing money at a low interest rate. Students today have huge college debt that too often puts them in a hole even before they go to work. She said we should forgive college debt over time for people who go into lower pay public care jobs.

Her goals are to restore our leadership in the world and get back our moral stance in the world. As we bring our troops home we must serve them because they are not getting the care they need and are often neglected. While most remain positive, one asked her, "But where do I go to get my brain back." . Traumatic brain injury is a special concern and we need to pay attention to it to help soldiers. She helped pass such a bill, but President Bush eliminated the money for that care.

And while she understands and respects the military, she said that, "Force must be used as a last, not first resort."

It will require hard work to change (a dig at Obama) and we must build coalitions, build support and stand up to special interests. Clinton said, "I will Stand up for you. I will never forget you. . . . "

Clinton wins key Pennsylvania Democratic vote

Hillary Clinton has beaten rival Barack Obama in a critical vote in the state of Pennsylvania as the two battle to be the Democrats' presidential candidate.
Speaking after her convincing 10-point win, she said Americans deserved "a president who doesn't quit".
Although this victory keeps her campaign alive, Mrs Clinton's win is not enough to turn the tables on her rival, correspondents say.
Mr Obama said he had done well to gain ground on Mrs Clinton in Pennsylvania.
With 99% of returns counted, Mrs Clinton was leading Mr Obama by 55% to 45%

Ted Danson Was at The Green Frog For Hillary Clinton

Ted DansonOn Saturday, April 19 at 4:30 Ted Danson showed up to tell why he thinks Hillary Clinton would be a great president. Why Ted Danson? Danson’s wife, grew up in Arkansas, and became friends with the Clintons many years ago. Bill Clinton gave Steenburgen away at her wedding to Danson, and they have have continued their close friendship ever since.

So, Ted Danson does know about Hillary Clinton and spoke very highly of her character, ability and skills to become president of the United States. Speaking from his unique perspective, Danson shared many details and understandings of Hillary and was in a special position to help get Clinton’s message to the people of Fort Wayne.

Chelsea Clinton Spoke at IPFW

Chelsea ClintonOn Friday April 18th at about 12:50 p.m. , Chelsea Clinton held a Campus Q&A Event in Fort Wayne at the Indiana University-Purdue University in the "Stomping Grounds"on the Lower Level of Walb Student Union before a crowd of about 200 people and five television cameras and a few good reporters including Benjamin Lanka of the Journal Gazette.

Twenty-eight year old Chelsea did an outstanding job as a surrogate for her mother, Hillary Clinton. She was cool, confident, concerned and most importantly, aware of her mother's history and views on issues and she shared them in such a way that the crowd was able to better understand Hillary Clinton.

She said that she had come to listen and answer questions - and that is what she did. She started out speaking to the interests of college students. higher ecucation affordability Her mom increased Pell Grants that are now available in summer to better help students.

ChelseaOne impressive statement was that Hillary Clinton knows dollar for dollar how she will pay for everything. That would be an impressive difference from our current president.

For anyone who cares about real education, she stated that her mother would repeal No Child Left Behind which has been a total failure to our educational system. Hillary Clinton believes that education needs to start earlier and she shared her mother's interest in in helping parents become better first teachers for their children.

She answered many questions from those in attendance, including one about white collar crime. She said her mom would be aggressive in cracking down on crime and applauded Second Chance Programs that encourage rehabilitation.

Other concerns were that when women go back to the work force they often lose medical insurance for their children. While we all hear that there are 47 million uninsured in this country, we seldom hear that there are twice that number that have no insurance for some part of each year. Her mom was the first candidate to speak up for mental and dental health parity. Hillary Clinton voted against Part D of Medicare because it does not really help and there was no negotiated bulk drug buying to lower drug costs and she would encourage laws that help generic drug development. Last, she would provide a way for all Americans to have affordable medical insurance.

Hillary Rodham Clinton would work to prevent outsourcing of jobs and remove tax breaks for businesses that outsource. She has an expansive plan for green collar jobs, and and a strategy to drive down cost of what works.

Chelsea Clinton said that the world was not only angry at the our government because of the War in Iraq bit for many things we have not done that have to do with global warming, energy use and not working as partners to make the world a better place.

Many other issues were covered and we were impressed with they way Chelsea conducted the discussion, how she knew the answers to questions and the policies of her mother. She was an excellent representative for Hillary Clinton's message.

She will fix NAFTA and stop shipping jobs overseas. Clinton will work on limiting gas and oil subsidies and help create new jobs by greening America.

LisaMcAuliffe said that Hillary is a tough campaigner who will work for the people and that in the election, nobody is going to swift boat Hillary Clinton. The crowd was excited that there is a good chance that former first daughter Chelsea Clinton will visit Fort Wayne.

Indiana will have an important impact in whether Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama will represent the Democratic Party and then the United States of America. After that, whichever one is picked, they will both work together to defeat John McCain.

Hillary was in Fort Wayne on Friday afternoon

Hillary visit
Stan Matuska

Democrat presidential candidate Hillary Clinton was in Fort Wayne Friday Hillaryafternoon for a Roundtable with Hoosiers on the Economy at Sara's Family Restaurant, 5792 Coventry Lane. The event Begins at 5:45 p.m..

The event was open to the public, but space was limited as she talked about economic issues and her platform to maken it better.

It was, in fact, a roundtable talk with citizens...and it best allowed Hillary to have a true, honest discussion, listening to the concerns of real Hoosiers and allowing her to best express her plans for America, especially for middle class Americans who have been hurt the worst by the Bush economy.

Hillary Clinton started her campaign by saying, "Let the conversation begin!" And she's staying true to that by traveling the state in order to discuss real solutions for real Americans.

Hoosiers for Hillary is making history, right here in the Fort!

Hey--It is ALWAYS good to be a Democrat, and this year it is especially EXCITING to be an INDIANA DEMOCRAT!!!!

Bill Clinton Spoke at the Grand Wayne Convention Center

Bill ClintonOn Tuesday night former President Bill Clinton was joined by Judy O'Bannon, former Indiana First Lady and Joe Kernan, former governor of Indiana who all spoke on behalf of Senator Hillary Clinton. The line began forming at the Grand Wayne Center before noon for the “Solutions for America” rally in support of his wife, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton. Two thousand were ithere for Clinton’s nearly one-hour speech.

You can listen to the speech at Indiana News Center.

We were impressed with some of the ideas expressed concerning health care and the inability and inefficacy of the health insurance industry. But her plan falls short, as does Obama's plan, of single provider health care.

Hillary says keep the plan you have or buy into the same plans that Congress gets. This is no one size fits all, but a policy where it is Illegal not to insure everybody. Take the savings to subsidize insurance plans of those who cannot afford it. We must all be in the pool.

Clinton said labor has been for universal health care and now so are most businesses because health care takes away so much profit and is just too expensive as it is now structured.

Hillary Clinton plans to overhaul education and get rid of "no child left behind". The purpose is to make our kids competitive and 98% of kids can learn all they need to know to survive if it is done right. Kids need to go to school longer and we must pay teachers appropriately if we want to catch up.

Success is not determined by the tests we give - partly because states pick the tests. 80% of schools are spending less time on many important but not tested subjects. Teaching for the test - not for life understanding. We need to find the best schools and repeat what they are doing.

Bill Clinton did an outstanding job of presenting issues, motivating voters and explaining what Hillary Clinton plans to do.

He believes she can stop the economic crisis from getting worse, work for a balanced budget and will not borrowing from other countries. (NOTE: unlike the "Republican Borrow and Spend" philosophy)

He talked a great deal about energy costs and stressed we must use our science to develop better energy and transportation methods.

Hillary will send the message to the world that we are willing to cooperate with other countries and she has support of many former military officials and leaders. He told of her plans for Iraq policy to succeed. The military use of soldiers has been very poor and the military must be rebuilt to overcome the damage of the war. It is a big issue for her. We need more Marines in Afghanistan and they must come from Iraq and he told her efforts to support the military and returning soldiers. We will not confuse the unpopularity of the war with the returning veterans. She will work to lower the high number of homeless veterans.

Excellent presentation that really did explain Hillary Clinton's strong points and values, experience and why she would be the best candidate for president. His final points were to give examples of how Hilary is the one that really does things for people.

Clinton said, "Based on what I have seen her do, I am so impressed by what she has done in her education and life to help others. She is someone who can get things done."

She can get the things done that you hire a president to do. We need your help to get things done.

His last and, in an election year, very important point was that she always wins the voters who decide in the last 48 hours. When people think about who will be the best president - they eventually think of Hillary because she makes changes in people's lives.

Hello!   From an enthusiastic HRC supporter!

HillaryAm glad to see some information on Hillary and that one of her reps will be in town on March 26.  Here is some more information regarding her campaign and some new endorsements as well.  I will stay in touch!

Family Ties: "When Mrs. Clinton comes to Pennsylvania, her first visit to the state after winning Ohio and Texas last week, her first stop will be Scranton, where her familial ties extend deeper than they do in the Chicago suburb where she grew up; Mrs. Clinton's great-grandparents came to Scranton in the 1880s." Read more.

In the News: The current issue of Newsweek focuses on Hillary. "I'm a Hillary supporter. Why? Because I like her, and I trust her, and she has been a great senator from New York. I believe she has the intelligence and the experience to bring the country forward."; "Perhaps she deserves to prevail simply because she's...clearly tougher than the other Democratic and Republican candidates." Read more.

Endorsement Watch: In Mississippi, former Gov. William F. Winter endorsed Hillary.

Previewing Today: Hillary attends a rally in Scranton, Pennsylvania; Chelsea meets with voters in Oxford, Batesville, and Grenada, Mississippi.

Recapping Yesterday: Chelsea met with "an enthusiastic crowd" of "hundreds of students" at students at Millsaps College and "took dozens of questions" at a young professionals event in Jackson, Mississippi.

In Case You Missed It: In Rhode Island, "campaign spending; was as lopsided as the result. Sen. Obama, who lost to Hillary 40 to 59 percent, more than doubled Clinton's spending on network television advertising."

Thanks! ADL
